The 2.5 group and the club's top ladder have the same problem: someone has to count, chase and remind. Each 4thGuy app takes one of those jobs. It opens from a link on your phone, and there's nothing to install.

Who's in on Tuesday?

One list of who's coming, for the weekly game or a one-off

Everyone gets a WhatsApp message and answers IN or OUT with one tap. The list updates for the whole group, so nobody scrolls back through 40 messages counting names. Keep the chat for the jokes.

  • Reminders go out 72 and 24 hours before the session, and only to players who haven't answered.
  • Short a player? Open the spot and share the link in any chat.
  • The court cost is split between the players who were IN, with a running balance for each person. You still settle up by MobilePay or bank transfer.
  • You set the rules for late drop-outs once, so the argument doesn't come back every month.

When can we play our ladder match?

Send one link instead of asking "when are you free?"

You've got a box match to play by the end of the month. Make a page showing when and where you can play, connect Google Calendar so your busy times drop out, and send the link to your opponent. They pick a slot and the match is agreed.

  • Your ladder can live anywhere: a club spreadsheet, another platform or a WhatsApp group.
  • Doubles works too. The page shows the times that suit both of you.
  • Either player can bring the court, and the page shows the courts you already hold.

Who's on court 3?

Run a Sunday knockout with friends or a full club event on the same app

Players sign up on your page and check in when they arrive. You make the draw from the people who turned up, and every phone and the venue screen stays current as you enter results.

As a club or business

Online entry fees, receipts for players and your share invoiced automatically. Online collection is switched on after a quick check. Seeding, a shared order of play and sponsor logos are there when the event needs them.

Why we do this

We love this game.

The best of tennis happens on court: the long rally, the set you had no business winning, the drink afterwards with people you only know because of the game. Every evening spent chasing answers in a chat is time away from that. So we start from the player. If something doesn't get you on court sooner or make your time there better, we don't build it.

How we see tennis

Land anywhere in the world and you've got a game.

Tennis should be this easy. You step off a plane in a city where you don't know anyone, open 4thGuy and swipe until you've got a coach for the morning or a new set of tennis friends for tonight. By the weekend you're arguing over a line call in a language you don't speak.

We think a racket should get you a game anywhere on earth, whether you're a beginner on holiday or a league regular on a work trip. We'll get there the way tennis has always grown: one group, one match and one tournament at a time, with the people who already love this game.

Questions we get

Do my players have to download something or make an account?

They open a link and confirm their phone number with WhatsApp or MobilePay. That's enough to answer IN or OUT, or to book a match.

WhatsApp is free. Why would we change?

Keep your group chat. 4thGuy does what a chat does badly: it keeps one current list, reminds only the people who haven't answered and remembers who owes what.

Does our ladder or club have to be on 4thGuy?

No. Play works for a match from any ladder or league, and your opponent only needs a phone number.
